Born in 1893 and first performing for Vaudeville audiences in The Big Apple just after the turn of the century, Mae West later moved to Hollywood, with her talents as singer, playwright, comedian, screenwriter and most notably actress, spanning seven decades. Known primarily for her nonchalant sexuality and comedic, from-the-hip delivery, West would share her talents on the big screen and Broadway, with the iconic sex symbol named the 15th greatest female stars of classic American cinema by the American Film Institute. We have a gorgeous display featuring a signed letter from the starlet. A 15 ½” x 18” photo display with bio text has been double-matted above, with the signed letter on Select Theatres Corporation letterhead placed below. Dated August 6, 1946, the 7” x 8” letter feature’s typed text and mentions pending payment for her “Come On Up” Broadway tour, with West adding a beautiful blue ink signature, with just the beginning portion affected by text. Framed to full dimensions of approx 25 ¼” x 36 ¼”, a Basic Certification from JSA will accompany for the signature. We should also note light wear to the frame. West would pass in 1980 at the age of 87.
