Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Representing Canada at the 1936 Berlin Games just before his career with the Maple Leafs, Syl Apps was a 5-time All-Star during his ten seasons in Toronto, with Stanley Cups won in 1942, 1947 and 1948. The Paris Ontario native would see enshrinement within the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1961, passing decades later on Christmas Eve in 1998, at the age of 83. We have a puck signed by the 1942 Lady Byng Memorial Trophy winner. A Viceroy model with vintage-style Maple Leafs logo in gorgeous condition, Apps has signed over the Leafs’ logo in gold, with the thin signature displaying well, somewhat blending into the background. Signed pucks from pre-Original Six era Hall of Fame members are seldom found. A sticker from JSA numbered “H09881” has been affixed to the reverse, with a matching Basic Certification to accompany.
