Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019

One of baseball’s most famous defensive plays and recognized as “The Catch”, Willie Mays made an unbelievable over-the-shoulder running catch off a long blast by Vic Wertz during the eighth inning of Game 1 of the 1954 World Series. The miraculous grab prevented two runners from scoring, with the Giants eventually winning the contest and later the series, claiming their final championship in New York. We have a signed and framed display celebrating the famous catch, along with a single-signed baseball. A 16” x 20” photo of The Catch has been centered, with Mays signing just above his image in blue marker. Plaques listing the particulars along with career highlights have been added above and below, with Mays’ 1959 Topps card of the event graded 5.5 EX by ACA and placed within the bottom right. Framed to full dimensions of 27" x 31", a JSA LOA will accompany the frame, with the ball certified by the industry leaders as well.
With no issues for the signature or frame itself, a JSA sticker numbered “D84536” has been affixed to the photo. The ball is a Rawlings Official NL Giamatti example, with light toning and a few marks, with Mays signing in black ink over the sweet spot, with no issues for the signature.
