Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
With a desire throughout his career to be recognized as the greatest hitter who ever lived, Ted Williams did his part, finishing second to only Babe Ruth in career slugging percentage, with his .4817 on-base percentage the best all-time. We have an original media photo of Teddy Ballgame dated to his rookie season in 1939, with this desirable specimen featuring the 2-time Triple Crown-winner fishing. At approx 6 ½” x 8 ½”, Ted is pictured barefoot and sporting a large smile with fly rod in hand. An International News stamp appears over the verso along with a portion of an affixed caption with ’39 edition of Huck Finn text, along with the mention of “rookie”. A few creases are present on the glossy print, with the very bottom section along the border warped/wrinkled slightly.
