Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
With 45 current members including active players Alexander Ovechkin and Patrick Marleau, the 500-goals club was initiated when Maurice Richard plotted his 500th marker in 1957-58. We have an especially desirable and attractive 500 Goal Scorers lithograph signed by 17 members. Produced by artist Ron Lewis and framed to approx 24” x 38 ½”, 19 members of the special club are wonderfully depicted, lined-up along the ice with each in his team uniform, including in order from left to right, Kurri, McDonald, Mahovlich, Lafleur, Ciccarelli, Bossy, Esposito, Mikita, Richard, Howe, Hull, Gretzky, Bucyk, Perreault, Gartner, Beliveau, Trottier, Goulet and Marcel Dionne. Each has signed beneath his respective image in blue marker, missing just Gretzky and Gartner for completion. As an added bonus, we have a vintage SEGA business card that has been signed over the reverse by Wayne Gretzky.
The signatures display well with just light fading taking place, with the artist signing along the bottom right. With no issues for the lithograph itself and light wear to the frame (the paper backing over the reverse is torn in a few places), this display will look stunning mounted. The SEGA card is a regularly-sized business card, made for the vice president of operations, with Gretzky signing the blank reverse in ballpoint, with no issues for the vintage signature. The card itself has a small indentation on one side.
