A member of the Stanley Cup-winning Carolina Hurricanes squad in 2006, Eric Staal has appeared in five NHL All-Star contests, and was a Second All-Star Team member in the OHL during his second season with Peterborough. From the very season where he led the team in scoring as well as garnering the OHL Top Prospect Award, we have a Petes alternate captain’s jersey worn by the Thunder Bay native, in 2002-03. Nike and Pro player labels with “54” sizing grace the collar, with embroidered Nike and CHL crests over the lower hem. Styled with “Petes” across the chest in individual maroon single twill letters, “12” is situated over the sleeves and verso, with matching alternate crests over each shoulder. “Staal” also appears over the affixed nameplate, with the alternate’s “A” along with a Nike swoosh logo placed above the left breast.
With the fight strap intact, dark marks are present over the lower front, with additional examples over each sleeve including a large stick mark on the upper right. There are also a few board burns mid-way up each sleeve. Worn by a second-overall draft pick before ascending to the NHL, this jersey should command spirited bidding.
