Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Longtime rivals Montreal and Toronto met in the Stanley Cup finals the season that these cards were pulled from packs, with the Canadiens breaking the Leafs' record with their fourth straight Cup title and legends from both teams leading the (lower grade) lineup here. In the F-G range are the Richard brothers, with gum/wax staining on the reverse of the Rocket, similar to Horton, the latter among the nicer cards at VG, with Mahovlich close at G+. Multi-creased and F are Plante, Beliveau and Harvey. VG in appearance but affected by light tape stains on the back are Moore and Geoffrion, while downright P is Bower. The remainder feature (17) VG or VG+ examples which are free of unsightly creases, including 17-Hodge, Leafs 27-Olmstead, 29-Duff, 45-Pulford and 48-Armstrong, as well as four action cards featuring Jacques Plante, although #1 with Plante (F) is not one of them. All-in-all, these "forever rivals" recall a special time.
Just two real low grade fillers are present; 40-Turner ("23 yrs." written on the front and major paper loss on the back) and 43-Provost (writing on the back).
