Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
With beautiful depictions of hockey's biggest stars, Parkhurst cards in 1953-54 surely must have seemed "giant" after the company's first two issues, with however the most desirable "giant", the rookie card of Jean Beliveau, the one card missing for completion here. Condition is all over the board, with big names tending to be in the lowest grade and commons among the nicest examples. Four beauties are slabbed by PSA, with #23-St. Laurent at NM-MT 8 and followed by NM 7s of 8-Thompson and 19-Olmstead, while 3-Hannigan is an EX-MT 6. Gordie Howe, Gump Worsley RC and 1-Lumley have multiple creases and are Poor, with 13-Horton, 24-Richard and 46-Sawchuk also P due to back damage, similar to eight others. Bathgate, Howell and Dineen rookies all have considerable issues, while 37-Arbour RC is crease-free and VG. Over two dozen others are VG or a tad better, most of them commons, with 64-Stanley and 86-Sugar Jim among them. Making it to EX+ is 36-Reibel RC.
