Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Authentic cardboard from the 1951-52 season is on the auction block here and is suitable for an entry level collector wishing to acquire Parkhurst's landmark first hockey card set. Condition is low grade (P-F) across the board, with a multitude of flaws present. However, not hard to look at all are key rookie cards of Gordie Howe and Maurice Richard. The Howe RC is free of creases, with only light corner/edge wear. There is evidence of erased writing on the lower front, with paper loss and re-coloring to note. The reverse exhibits light glue residue. All-in-all, one of the most attractive (Poor) Howe rookies one could hope for. A light side-to-side crease, corner/edge wear and back damage affects the Richard rookie, with deep rich colors an attribute. Most notable among the rest are multi-creased (P) rookie cards of Terry Sawchuk and Doug Harvey, along with #52-The Winning Goal, while a ripped back affects Bernie Geoffrion's RC. Flaws to be discovered with the remainder include one or more of the following: multiple creases, writing, trimming, back damage, tape marks. Not present are 55-Kelly RC and 72-Meeker RC.
