Factory date stamping on Martin Brodeur's game used Heaton PRO 90Z would suggest this one saw use during the team's Cup run in 1995. Photos from the Devil's post-season show Brodeur using this exact model throughout the Finals that year! Stamped "M. Brodeur" on the front with the date "28 Mars 1995" on the back side of the shaft. Martin's typical stunted knob tape job in white is intact at the handle end and the blade is wrapped from the tip back to the heel and up onto the paddle in black cloth tape. Sadly, the blade on this stick is in two pieces and is currently being held together with wraps of clear medical tape. We bet this one has a story to tell!
The New Jersey Devils would make the run all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals against Detroit in 1995. Martin was the go-to-guy for all twenty post-season tilts and he amazingly held Detroit to just 7 goals over the 4-game sweep in the Finals! Brodeur recalls the last minute of the final game: "it was probably the best minute of my life".
