Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Just the fifth player in Boston Bruins history to have his number retired by the inaugural American club (along with Johnny Bucyk), Milt Schmidt spent 16 seasons in Beantown, with over 775 regular season games played. Originating from Milt’s personal collection and acquired directly from the Schmidt family, we have the banner given to the HOFer when he was honored during a pre-game ceremony at the old Boston Garden on March 13th 1980, prior to the Bruins' 4-2 win over Detroit, when his banner ascended to the rafters, never to be used again. At 36” in diameter, the circular nylon banner features Milt’s “15”, with “Milton C. Schmidt” above and “1936-55” below, all in sewn-on single black twill letters/numbers. With just light wear including fold lines, an 8” x 10” photo showing Milt’s banner hanging in Boston Garden is included. An LOA from the Schmidt family will accompany.
