Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Known affectionately as The China Wall, legendary netminder Johnny Bower spent a quarter-century in professional hockey, most notably backstopping the Maple Leafs to four Stanley Cup championships. We have a wonderful collection of Bower signed items totaling four, with a vintage-style goalie mask and Leafs jersey, Leafs puck and an 11” X 14” photo. The mask was produced by Mikula Masks and is numbered “24/24”, with vintage style strapping, with Bower signing across the forehead in blue, adding both “China Wall” and “HOF 76”. A hologram is affixed to the interior, with a matching Mikula Masks photo COA to accompany. The jersey is an acrylic CCM creation made to simulate wool with “XL” tagging, along with a wonderful vintage-style felt Leafs team crest with embroidered detailing. Bower has signed to the left of the team crest in blue sharpie, and the signature displays well with minimal bleeding. Next, the 11” x 14” photo is on glossy stock and picture’s the HOFer in his Leafs finery posing with the Stanley Cup, with an attractive blue sharpie signature, with “HOF 76” added. The final item is a signed Leafs puck, with this example produced by Viceroy, with Bower signing above the Leafs logo in gold, again adding his induction year. The signatures all display well, with no issues for the puck, photo, jersey or mask regarding condition. This lot will be accompanied by an LOA from Classic Auctions.
