Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Each puck originally distributed by Hockey Diversified could be obtained by mail with the buyer’s choice of team and possibly player. A label was affixed to each puck listing the scorer, team and date, along with a code that divulged which team-goal said puck accounted for. This particular puck was used by HOFer Bobby Clarke to score the Philadelphia Flyer’s 24th goal of the playoffs vs Montreal, at the Spectrum, on April 22nd 1973. Assisted by Bill Barber, it was the Philly captain’s 2nd playoff goal of the season and his career, with an impressive total of 42 playoff goals scored. The first goal of the contest scored at 4:08 of the 1st period in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup semifinals, the Habs would then score four unanswered goals, and despite outshooting the visitors 32 to 27, the Flyers fell to the Canadiens at home, 4-1. The third straight win for Montreal, the Flyers would lose the series, 4 games to 1.
Regarding condition, the rubberized Flyers logo shows a pair of marks, while the Goal Puck Program label remains fairly clean. There is also a minor slice along the side.
