Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
A Stanley Cup finalist in 11 of his 15 NHL seasons, Bert Olmstead was known for his physical play and the heavy body checks he doled out. The 1985 HOF inductee also served as head coach to the expansion Oakland Seals in 1967-68. We have a glove that according to our consignor, was obtained from Olmstead, with the 1957-58 Montreal Canadiens team photo showing players wearing what appears to be similar model gloves. Produced by Reach with screened-on logos over the palm and wrist guard, the left handed glove has a model number of “2524” and shows heavy use, with numerous dark marks throughout, with black tape used to bunch the fingers together. There is also wear including a slight discolouration near the palm, with the additional padding between the thumb and wrist detached on one side.
We should also note that our consignor has previously consigned a game-used Maurice Richard glove from the early-1950s, sold by Classic in June of 2017.
