Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Featuring two netminders who shined during their careers in the late-1990s, we have signed and game-used sticks from both Dominik Hasek and Mike Vernon, with both examples gifted directly to our consignor, Ken Daniels. A sportscaster with CBC from 1985 to 1997, Daniels is currently the play-by-play announcer for the Detroit Red Wings on Fox Sports Detroit. We have Louisville (Hasek – used in the Stanley Cup-championship season of 2001-02) and Hespeler (Vernon – used circa 1997-2000 while with the Sharks) models, with each player’s name appearing over the upper shaft, with both sticks retaining the original tape over the blades, paddles and handles. An LOA from Ken Daniels will accompany.
Both sticks exhibit heavy wear, with the Hasek cracked at the top of the heel joint, with a second crack at the toe. Numerous puck marks are visible over the blade, paddle and shaft, with red paint transfer over the shaft. The Vernon stick is also cracked at the top of the heel joint, with chipping to the top edge of the paddle. There is heavy wear to the blade, with both red and blue paint transfer over the shaft. Both have signed over the front side of the paddle in black marker, with Vernon adding “Best Wishes”.
