One of the few NHL players born in the Yukon, Peter Sturgeon was selected 36th overall in 1974 by the Boston Bruins, with his career consisting of just six games played for Colorado, split over two seasons. We have a Rockies jersey, with this desirable style worn by Sturgeon in 1980-81, where he appeared in four games. A Rawlings label with “48” sizing remains affixed to the collar, with no other tagging present. Sporting a rubberized Rockies team crest, “18” in solid white with red trim appears over the sleeves and verso also rubberized, along with matching team crests over each shoulder. “Sturgeon” is situated in heat-pressed white vinyl letters over the affixed mesh nameplate, with an intact dual suspender-style fight strap also utilized, as well as knit striping bands.
We should note that Colorado was known for taking the names on and off jerseys, with other Rockies sweaters also having the odd fishing line-type threading affixing the nameplate. With the jersey's colours all remaining bright, just light to moderate wear is visible including marks over the front band and sleeves, with no cracking or peeling to the rubberized identifiers. A few small holes and burns are present over the lower left sleeve, with a V-shaped tear on the lower left reverse. A 1981-82 Rockies media guide will accompany.
