Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Referred to as The Big M, Frank Mahovlich is a six-time Stanley Cup champion, with an impressive 15 All-Star Game appearances including dressing for every contest between 1959 and 1974, minus just 1966. Hailing from the early-1970s while averaging over a point-a-game during his four seasons in Montreal, we have a stick used by the Timmins native. A Victoriaville Pro, “F. Mahovlich” and “27” appear over the upper shaft, with additional stamps over each side from Victoriaville. With intact but somewhat tattered striping accents in Habs colours, the desirable lumber retains it’s original black tape over the blade and white over the handle and knob, with each side of the shaft shaved-down, a common trait seen in images of Mahovlich from the era.
Exhibiting nice use with wear to the underside of the blade along with visible puck marks, the lower shaft also sports additional marks, along with just a bit of red paint transfer.
