Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
The game-used sticks of five members of the Hockey Hall of Fame, four of which are autographed, are featured in this lot of seven game-used sticks. Gamers signed by Eric Lindros (HOF 2016), Cam Neely (HOF 2005), Mike Gartner (HOF 2001) and Dave Andreychuk (HOF 2017) are included along with an Adam Oates (HOF 2012) game-used stick. A signed Joe Thornton gamer will likely make for another HOF stick once he retires, and a Rod Brind’Amour game-used stick with a dedicated signature could make it all seven if he is ever elected to the Hall. All of the sticks have their original tape jobs on the knob and blade unless otherwise noted.
Eric Lindros’ mid-1990s Flyers Bauer 3003 game-used stick has his dedicated signature in black marker across his well-worn white tape job on the blade. What appears to be “Mathieu, All the Best, Eric Lindros” covers the front of the tape job, which has partly worn through along the bottom edge and displays solid game wear. “E Lindros” is stamped high on the shaft below Eric’s tape job on the knob, which has a long loose strand at the top.
Cam Neely’s 1990s Bruins Canadiens 6001 game-used stick has a dedicated signature on the now-bare blade. “To Jeffrey & Justin, Best Wishes, Cam Neely 8” reads the black marker signature across the blade which had its original tape job removed for Cam to apply his dedicated autograph. The shaft was painted white covering most of the manufacturer’s logo. The faint “Neely” stamp is legible on the upper shaft below his original tape job on the knob, with his number “8” handwritten in black marker just below it. There is a wrap of weathered white hockey tape around the bottom of the shaft with an opening on the back edge where it is blackened.
Joe Thornton’s mid-to-late-2000s Sharks signed CCM Vector game-used stick has “J Thornton” stamped on the shaft, which has his original tape job on the knob. Jumbo Joe’s tape job was removed from the blade where he placed a bold black marker autograph on the front.
Rod Brind'Amour’s 1990s Flyers signed Sher-Wood PMP 7000 game-used stick has “Brin d’Amour” stamped on the upper shaft below his white tape job on the knob. His tape job was removed from the blade where he signed “All the best, Rod Brind’Amour” across the front in bold black marker. “Philadelphia” and “7000” factory stamps sit low on the back of the shaft and game wear includes red goalpost paint transfer on the shaft and on the knob.
Mike Gartner’s early-1990s Rangers signed Victoriaville Quadra Glass 5000 game-used stick has “M Gartner” stamped on the shaft below his black tape job on the knob. His tape job was removed from the blade, which displays his bold blue marker autograph with his familiar No. “22”. Game use shows in red goalpost paint transfer low on the shaft, various black marks, and a few small cracks on the bottom edge of the heel and just above.
Dave Andreychuk’s circa 2000 Avalanche signed CCM Tacks game-used stick has “Andreychuk” stamped on the front of the upper shaft. Dave placed a silver paint pen autograph on the front side of the top of the shaft below his white tape job on the knob. Game use includes light wear to the bottom edge of the black bulldog tape job on the blade and black marks low on the shaft and both sides of the heel of the blade.
Adam Oates’ 1990s Bruins Sher-Wood P.M.P.X. 9950 game-used stick has his distinctive customized stubby blade that he cut at the toe. “Oates 12” is stamped on the shaft, which has a vintage wrap of yellowed cellophane tape in the middle over a crack on the bottom edge to keep the chip of wood in place.
