Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Gordie Howe’s black marker autograph sits below the “G. Howe” factory stamp on the shaft of his mid-1970s WHA Houston Aeros signed game-used stick. This Northland Custom Pro with Howe’s original tape jobs on the knob and blade and “1815” factory-stamped on the bottom of the shaft is from the era that saw Mr. Hockey come out of retirement to play with his sons, Mark and Marty, in the rebel league. Gordie averaged a shade over 100 points each of his first three seasons in Houston and the Howes led the Aeros to Avco Cup titles in 1973-74 and 1974-75. Game use on this solid and crack-free beauty includes nice wear to the bottom edge of the tape job.
The outline of a long identifying sticker that was not original to the stick but rather added at some point and subsequently removed sits lower down the shaft below Howe’s autograph.
