Featuring the all-time leading scorer for the Montreal Canadiens, we have a signed stick that Guy Lafleur used to score the famous – or infamous for the Beantown hopefuls – game-tying goal vs Boston in Game 7 of the 1979 Stanley Cup semifinals! Originally obtained from a Sher-Wood executive, and according to our consignor, the executive stated that this stick was used to score the game-tying goal in game #7 of the semifinals vs the Bruins. Lafleur has also signed an LOA confirming the provenance that will be included. A Sher-Wood PMP 5030 model with “10” factory graphics, a date code of “23 Avr 1979” is visible along the underside. With the original black tape over the blade and white over the handle and knob intact, Guy has signed in ballpoint, adding “Best Wishes”.
The stick shows great use, with wear to the underside of the blade along with a few loose tape strands. There are also marks to the lower shaft, along with a few spots of red paint transfer, with a small area of the upper shaft brushed with white paint. Lafleur's goal served as one of the most noteworthy in Stanley Cup playoff history, secured late in the 3rd against Boston. The goal tied this Game 7 Semifinal match 4-4, with Montreal eventually winning in overtime on a goal by Yvon Lambert.
