Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Yankees shortstop Didi Gregorius’ 2016 game-worn jersey is featured in this lot of three items that also includes his locker nameplate and a game-used baseball, with a Steiner LOA for each item. Gregorius, who has done a great job of bearing the burden of following in the footsteps of Derek Jeter, was .276/.304/.447 with 32 doubles, two triples, 20 home runs and 70 RBIs in his second season in pinstripes. The Yankees’ signature NY crest is sewn on the left breast of the jersey, which has No. 18 on the back, all in dark navy blue twill, and was worn by Gregorius in New York’s 8-1 loss to Tampa Bay on April 24, 2016. Game wear includes light marks on the front and rear tails.
Majestic size 46 tagging screened on the left front tail has a Steiner hologram sticker with a registry number that corresponds to the included LOA, which states it was worn by Gregorius against Tampa Bay on April 24. New York Yankees barcode tag below it has an MLB Authentication hologram sticker with a registry number that provides the same information on their database.
Yankees “18 Didi Gregorius” locker room nameplate measures 4 1/8” x 16” and has a Steiner hologram sticker with a registry number matching the one on the accompanying LOA, and an MLB Authentication hologram sticker with a registry number for its database that indicates it is from the Yankees’ game against Tampa Bay on April 24, 2016.
The Rawlings Manfred Official Major League Baseball has a Steiner hologram sticker. The Steiner registry number matches the one on the accompanying LOA, which states that it was used in the May 6, 2016 game against Boston at Yankee Stadium, “fouled back to screen” by Gregorius when he batted against Red Sox starter Rick Porcello in the bottom of the second. The registry number on the MLB Authentication hologram sticker also yields the same information on their database.
