Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
A true piece of early NHL history, we have a rare seat from the legendary Mount Royal Arena, home of les Canadiens through most of the Roaring ‘20s (from 1920 to 1926), and the Maroons in 1924. Saved for over 50 years by the ex-project manager that oversaw the demolition of the famous building - Pierre Picard - this attractive specimen features a beautifully shaped cast black metal base with finished wooden seat and back rest, with a plaque mounted along the top of the seat rest that list all the particulars, with the limited-edition number of “15/50” handwritten along the seat-back’s reverse. Heavy wear to the frame including areas with white paint are present, with the wooden sections exhibiting additional wear with heavy marks and scratches, along with wonderful patina. A pair of COAs will accompany.
While the chair is currently free-standing, a pair of 3” x 24” legs to be used as a base will also be included.
