Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Can you remember your first hockey stick? Vintage lumber that leaves one to ponder that very question is offered, with a collection of 4 old school solid wood hockey sticks from the circa-1950s, with these examples the types players like Yvan Cournoyer, Phil Esposito and Paul Henderson would have used in their youth. We have a pair of Sherbrooke sticks, a Spalding and a Dependon. The Spalding is a full-size adult “Double” model with intact striping accents, with the screened-on name faded. The blade and lower shaft have been shellacked at some point, with wear to the underside of the blade. The first Sherbrooke is a full-size Pro Special Jr. model with fading to the screened-on logo and no striping accent, with wear to the underside of the blade an a slight separation along the top of the blade. Despite this, the stick remains completely solid. The second Sherbrooke stick is a youth model with “40” stamped to the underside, with traces of the original striping accent left. Nice and solid, the stick shows nice light use. Lastly, the Dependon stick is a “Junior” model with most of the striping accent present, made for a left-hand shooter, the stick shows nice use with wear to the underside of the blade and a sliver of loss.
