Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018

One of only three players in history to sport eight or more 100-point seasons, Marcel Dionne was also the third man in history to reach the lofty 700-goal total. Originating from the collection of long-time Kings head athletic trainer Pete Demers, and including his signed LOA, we have a signed Los Angeles Kings alternate captain’s jersey that was worn by Dionne in 1986-87, and it’s been photo-matched. Maska Ultrafil tagging mostly detached from the collar is present with an "86 01" born-on date tag, along with a CCM patch in Kings’ colours over the reverse bottom hem. Styled with an intricately detailed embroidered Kings team crest, the vintage V-neck has been embellished with dual-colour tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with the textured Kings’ 20th anniversary crest over the left shoulder. Dionne has signed the reverse “1” in black marker adding “HOF 92”, and the large signature displays well with no issues.
Dark marks are visible over the lower front band and sleeves, with burns over each elbow section. There is also a small team repair over the right elbow. Getty Image #56633078 has been matched to the placement of the upper area of the crown within the team crest, and to the yellow loose threads in the upper middle area of the crest in three different spots. Demers spent 37 years in the Kings organization, his first three with their American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield before he joined the big club in 1972. Honoured by the Professional Hockey Trainers Society (PHATS) in 2007, Demers has a plaque on the PHATS/SPHEM (Society of Professional Hockey Equipment Managers) Wall of Honor in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
