Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
A standout during his time in the OHA with the Toronto Marlboros, Gary Dillon is the club’s all-time leading scorer, with 375 points in the 247 games he played. Dillon also had a 13-game stint with Colorado in 1980-81. Hailing from his personal collection, we have Gary’s 1975-79 Marlboros contract, along with a second contract issued between Dillon and the Quebec Nordiques for both 1981-82 and 1982-83. The 8 ½” x 15” (folded) Marlboros contract calls for a salary of $75.00 a week, along with a $200.00 bonus, with Dillon signed along with a witness. The 8 ½” x 19 ½” Nordiques contract includes a small memo on Nordiques stationary dated 1982 and affixed by way of paperclip, with the contract calling for $25,000.00 a season. Stamped by the Central Registry and signed by Dillon, a stamp is also present for NHL president John Ziegler. Both contracts exhibit expected handling wear with some toning, creasing and fold lines, with a few small stains also visible on the Nordiques example. As an added bonus, we also have a 4” x 6” colour photo of Dillon in his Quebec uniform with “81-82” handwritten on the reverse, along with a rough paper stock copy of Dillon in a scrum with Wayne Gretzky.
