Members of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, the Lake Superior State Lakers first iced their hockey program in 1966 under the NAIA, with NCAA tournament championships occurring in 1988, 1992 and 1994. We have for your collecting interests, a Lake Superior State 1987-88 NCAA Division I Ice Hockey Championship 10K gold salesman's sample ring. Size 13 with an approx. weight of 40 grams, a zirconia-embedded anchor atop a blue stone is centered on the tableau, encompassed by both “Laker Hockey” and “National Champions”. The right shank has the school seal with “NCAA-CCHA” above and “1988” below, while the left shank feature's “Anzalone” (coach) above, along with the team’s record of “33-7-6” below. The inner band is stamped "LGB10K", along with an engraved sample number of “2SA-19783”.
A number of surface scratches are present on the attractive ring, as well as small dings, grooves and nicks, especially along both the band and edges. The ring would also benefit from a professional cleaning. Despite these minor flaws, the ring displays beautifully.
