Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Backstopping the Sorel Black Hawks to the 1969 Memorial Cup, Dan Bouchard was a standout NHL netminder throughout the 1970s, with the majority of his career split between Quebec and Atlanta. The Val-d'Or native is also the Flames franchise-leader for both wins and shutouts. We have a pair of skates that according to Dan Bouchard, he wore during his single season with the Winnipeg Jets in 1985-86, along with an Atlanta Flames scrapbook, 1970s media guides (10), a signed 2009 Quebec Pee-Wee tournament event-worn signed jersey and a few other goodies. The skates are Bauer Supreme models with Bauer shells, with lacing present along with rubber skate guards. A signed LOA from Dan Bouchard will accompany.
Each skate exhibits heavy use, with a section along the top of the back of each boot cut away and reinforced, with rounded tape balls affixed over each front and reverse skate blade post. The shells also show heavy wear, with considerable amounts of the white finish worn away, with numerous cuts over each toe section. The large 12” x 14 ½” scrapbook has a Flames decal on the cover, with over 50 pages with newspaper clippings affixed on each side, with a number of additional loose clippings present. Highlighted by a loose Flames “puck” card with facsimile signatures along with an affixed polaroid of Bouchard with a small child, with advertising from sponsors Coke and Majik Market. The 2009 Pee-Wee jersey was produced by Reebok and is roughly a size 60, with an embroidered 50th anniversary crest, along with “Bouchard” over the reverse in heat-pressed vinyl letters. Dan has signed within the top of the reverse “5” in blue marker, and the signature displays well. The media guides present include examples from 1976-77 for Boston, Vancouver, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Minnesota, with Atlanta Flames guides for 1977-78, 1978-79 and 1979-80 (2). There is also an NHL schedule booklet for the 1976-77 season. The majority of the guides remain in very good condition with expected handling wear.
