Celebrating their third consecutive Stanley Cup championship in 1964, the Toronto Maple Leafs would finish the regular season in each of those years in the top three, with a fourth cup added in 1967 for a very successful decade. Hailing from the 1961-64 Stanley Cup championship era, we have a Leafs team-signed stick. A generic model void of its striping accent, “4” and “Right” appear on the upper shaft, with approx. 18 signatures scripted in ballpoint (there appears to have been at least 2 different pens used) on one side of the shaft including deceased HOFers Tim Horton and Allan Stanley, along with fellow members Bower, Kelly, Armstrong, Mahovlich and Dave Keon. A KSA sticker numbered “002615” has been affixed to the lower shaft (opposite side of the signatures), with a matching LOA to accompany.
Other signers on this 1960s Leafs team-signed stick include Don Simmons, Bob Nevin, Ed Litzenberger, Carl Brewer, Ron Stewart, Bobby Baun, trainer Bobby Haggert, Larry Hillman, trainer Tommy Naylor and others. A number of the signatures are very light and barely legible, with a few that are too faded for recognition. The Horton signature is somewhat faded, but displays well and is easily legible. We should also note that the stick most likely hails from 1963-64, as Hillman only played a few games in both 1961-62 and 1962-63.
