Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018

A member of the Stanley Cup champion Calgary Flames in 1989, Gary Roberts credited his longevity to his considerable fitness regime, with a number of NHL players now trained by the North York native. We have a Florida Panthers jersey that was worn by Roberts in 2006-07, his second of two seasons spent in Florida. Sewn-down size “56” tagging resides along the collar, with NHL and Reebok crests over the reverse hem and back neckline respectively. Styled with an attractive Panthers team crest with embroidered detailing, the navy V-neck has been accented with white tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers with red trim, with matching palm tree patches over each shoulder. Traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins on February 27th 2007, this would explain the light wear on the jersey, with just a few faint board burns present over the right sleeve. The team patch sits on the inside hem near a MeiGray crest numbered “D04066”, and according to their population report, the garment is a “Blue Set 2” example.
