The 1st overall selection at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, John Tavares has represented his native Canada numerous times throughout his career, winning gold at the World Jr Championships, Spengler Cup, Canada Cup and Winter Olympics. We have a great grouping of items used by the Ontario native in international play including a signed stick and signed skates that were used at the 2008 IIHF WJC where Canada won gold, along with a signed helmet worn during the Canada - Russia Super Series in 2007, which also features a few other signatures. As an added bonus, we also have a Tavares signed New York Islanders puck.
The Stick is a CCM Vector model with “J. Tavares” on the upper shaft, and it retains its tape on the handle and blade. Nice use is exhibited with wear to the blade and marks to the lower shaft, with John signing across the blade in silver marker, and the signature displays well. The skates are CCM Pro models that exhibit heavy use with considerable wear to the blade holders and boots, with the material fraying. Hand written notations of “5/8 2 91 JT” are on the underside of each with Tavares adding “08 WJC Gold Medal” to each in silver near each attractive signature. Both the skates and the stick also sport Tavares holograms. The helmet is a Bauer model with intact padding and visor, with “20” across the reverse along with a Team Canada sticker. Nice use is shown with marks on both the helmet and visor, with a few faded signatures present along with an example by Tavares that has been smudged. Lastly, the signed puck displays well, with the signature somewhat weak.
