There is no understating the greatness George Reed exemplified over the course of his Canadian Football Hall of Fame career as a running back with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. A nine-time CFL All-Star, he rushed for 16,116 yards and scored 137 touchdowns over the course of his 14-year career with Saskatchewan from 1962-75. Reed’s circa 1970 Roughriders game-worn jersey is the first of his gamers we’ve handled and vintage jerseys from star players of that era are rarely seen. Reed’s retired No. 34 is heat-screened in green vinyl on the front, back and both sleeves of this treasure and its original Champion size 44 tagging on the left front tail. Nice game wear includes 10 team repairs throughout as well as marks on the upper back.
Reed was the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player in 1965 and was named MVP of the 1966 Grey Cup when he led the Green Riders to their first title.
There are five team repairs on the front of the jersey, including two on the upper right below the shoulder seam, one to the left of the middle of the “3” and one on the right edge of the “4” and another above it. There is one repair on the right shoulder, one on the front of the upper left sleeve, and two on the back, including one to the left of the “3” and another in the middle of the “4”.
