Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Two killer color images of a young Bobby Orr are among the highlights here, with the pictures originally part of cereal boxes put out by General Mills and not Post Cereal, as originally thought. A panel with an action shot of Gordie Howe is also notable since it still includes parts surrounding the picture that invite consumers to "Collect Action Photos", while also informing them of contests (win a trip to a Stanley Cup hockey game, autographed hockey sticks). The panel also reveals that the action photos, with tips to better perform certain hockey skills, were available on boxes of Cheerios, Wheaties and Country Corn Flakes. Each player is featured in two different poses, with Jean Beliveau, Stan Mikita and Harry Howell joining Orr and Howe. We spot a crease or two and/or surface scuffs in the majority but nothing too unsightly, with each picture featuring a facsimile autograph. Swell chance to score a complete set, with two early Orr collectibles starring.
