Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Originally part of the deal that sent Wayne Gretzky from Indianapolis to the Edmonton Oilers in 1978, Peter Driscoll would spend parts of the 1980-81 season back in Edmonton, appearing in 21 games. We have an Oilers jersey worn by the Ontario native that very season. Currently void of collar labeling, a rubberized Sandow SK label resides over the back bottom hem. Styled with the classic oil-drop team crest, the solid white V-neck has been accented with dual colour tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with a loop-style fight strap. Edmonton replaced their earlier knit uniforms and began wearing this mesh set during the second half of the 1980-81 season, and on into the playoffs, where Driscoll didn’t play. The original nameplate was also reattached to the jersey. An LOA from the Oilers will accompany.
Game-use includes a few stick marks on the front along with paint transfer over the lower left sleeve, with a small hole near the right elbow. There is also some light toning to the fabric overall, along with some pilling to the collar.
