The grandest in all the land, when it comes to 1937-38 O-Pee-Chee sets to have been completed and registered at PSA over the years, is this chart-topping, award-winning ensemble, with just over half (25 cards) being individual leaders on their respective lines of the famous PSA Population Report. Seven of them are Pop 1s, led by the legendary Charlie Conacher at an ultra-inviting NM-MT 8, the same as 149-Wilf Cude, 157-George Allen Brown RC, 159-Pit Lepine and 171-Bob Gracie, with 142-Gordie Drillon RC and 162-Allen Shields close at NM+ 7.5. Other NM-MT 8s and tied for top spot are Pop 2s; 139-Busher Jackson, 156-Joffre Desilets and 169-Russ Blinco. The set’s key rookie card, that of Toe Blake, is slabbed EX-MT 6, while other Hall of Famers are 133-Broda (EX-MT 6, Pop 2, 1 higher), 134-Horner (NM 7, Pop 2, 0 higher), 141-Apps (NM 7, Pop 2, 0 higher), 150-Siebert (NM 7, Pop 3, 1 higher) and 152-Joliat (NM 7, Pop 4, 0 higher). We count a majority of cards (36) with blue borders and facsimile signatures, with 12 decorated in purple. The sum is an utterly impressive all-time high set rating of 7.56, with this set winning PSA honors each and every year since it was first registered in 2011. Yet another hobby happening, as these gems go to auction. Good luck with this marvelous opportunity.
