One of the greatest sources for antique team photographs, the 1924 pictorial Hockey Yearbook features dozens upon dozens of images of historic Championship teams from the earliest days right up until 1924. At roughly 8 ¾” x 11 ½”, the originally expensive $2.00 volume contains a compilation of hockey facts and figures for the season of 1921-22 and 1922-23 together with a comprehensive history of hockey from its debut to 1923. This particular volume was owned by Hector Lepine, the brother of longtime 1930s Habs star “Pit” Lepine, with Hector skating for a season with the Canadiens in 1925-26. The book has been rebound into a hardcover, with “Encyclopedie du Hockey” in gold on the cover along with “Hector Lepine”. Montreal AAA, Ottawa Senators, Winnipeg Victorias, Quebec Bulldogs, Montreal Wanderers, Kenora Thistles, Vancouver Millionaires… all the big name teams from the turn of the century are present and accounted for. The book itself suffers from some condition issues, with around a half dozen pages having clear tape that was affixed to rectify issues such as tears, with a number of pages still sporting edge tears. There is also fairly heavy toning, with a name written in ink on one of the first blank pages.
