Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017

The third consecutive postseason appearance for the American League’s New York franchise, the Yankees had just come off a pair of 100+ plus season wins, and they would face a St Louis Cardinals squad in the Fall Classic led by MVP and first baseman Jim Bottomley. To the dismay of ticket salesman, the Series would only go four games, with New York outscoring their rivals by 17 runs in the Series for their second consecutive Fall Classic championship. We have a program hailing from the first game of the Series, and it’s been scored in pencil. Solid and complete, the 9 ¼” x 11” program exhibits some cover creasing, along with a pencil notation listing the date. There is also some light spine wear, along with tape added to a few pages for some unknown reason, possibly for originally mounting game stubs. The back cover also shows loss along with glue and tape residue at the four corners from a previous mounting.
