Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Remembered as the sight of the first World Series game played at night, Three Rivers Stadium opened its doors in the summer of 1970, hosting both the Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers for the next three decades before closing in 2000. The venue also witnessed a number of memorable concerts, including Black Sabbath in 1972, Pink Floyd in 1975 and U2 in the fall of 1987. We have an original turnstile from the stadium. At just over the 37” in height, the black finished base features a stainless top with counter window display. “22” has been stenciled on in white, with stickers affixed to the top and along a single turnstile. In working order, the counter currently sits at “53499”, with the top removable as the mechanism is currently unlocked with no accompanying key. An LOA from TRS will be included.
The base exhibits considerable rusting, with rust also visible beneath the counter. Despite these flaws, the turnstle displays beautifully.
