Drafted second overall behind junior rival Guy Lafleur in 1971, Marcel Dionne would play 18 prosperous NHL seasons culminating in membership with the prestigious HOF. The Drummondville native would also represent Canada at the Summit Series, Canada Cup and World Championships. Originally from Mr. Dionne’s personal collection, this Team Canada captain’s jersey was worn by the superstar in the 1983 World Championships, and it’s been photo-matched. Maska tagging remains affixed to the collar, with an embroidered Maska crest on the back bottom hem. Styled with a gorgeous “double leaf” team crest, the V-neck sweater has also been accented with tackle twill numbers and captain’s “C”, with the name on verso heat-pressed onto the nameplate.
Game-wear on the HOF garment includes a few dark marks on the lower front and over each sleeve, with some light paint transfer on the right elbow section. Some unobtrusive staining is also present beneath the team crest. A pair of images featuring Marcel receiving his bronze medal have been matched to the brownish mark on the lower right sleeve. Dionne would finish the 1983 World Championship with 9 points in 10 games played.
