Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Forever remembered as one of the all-time greatest upsets in the history of modern sports, the 1980 US Olympic hockey victory is highly collected, with the demand far exceeding available surviving material. We have four ticket stubs from the famous tournament including examples from both the monumental victory over the Russians and gold medal-clinching game vs the Finns, along with ticket stubs from the Sweden/Czech match on Feb 20th and the Finland/Sweden “Final Round” contest on Feb 22nd. The ticket stubs for the important Russia/US “Miracle” match from Feb 22nd and the US/Finland gold medal match on Feb 24th have both been encapsulated as “AUTH” by SGC.
Each of the encapsulated ticket stubs display beautifully, with no excessive wear or damage, with a handwritten notation on the “Miracle” ticket of “U.S.A. 4 U.S.S.R. 3”. The SGC cases themselves have witnessed better days, with considerable wear/scratches to both the front and back sections. The remaining two ticket stubs display nicely, with expected wear including a crease to a corner on the Sweden/Czech example, along with some staining/discolouration to the reverse of the Sweden/Finland stub.
