Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Long-time hockey broadcaster Bob Cole's, "Oh, baby!" line comes to mind at the sight of this extremely infrequently-seen/offered treasure. A complete box of Corn Chex with an intact photo of the Canadiens’ John Ferguson reveals exactly how the popular photos were issued and is a treat to hold and behold while contemplating how it was preserved for 50-plus years. Ferguson is one of 39 players featured in the 1963-64 promotion, with a free Punch Imlach Hockey Tips booklet offered on one of the side panels. Some faded pen writing is on the back of the box, a newspaper-like format named “The Morning Chex-Press” and boasting “The only newspaper with good news only”(!). Creasing to the side panels, along with some on the front and back, is to be aware of, as well as a few small, light, not-very-detracting scuffs in the Ferguson image. A one-inch tear in the box top, where a 30-cent price is stamped, is also to note. A fantastic find, this special piece will have you grinning like Fergy when it is delivered.
