Not destined for pro graders but still attractive to some are these two stacks of O-Pee-Chee cards, the condition of which improves as they’re sifted through. The first two dozen 1968-69s, including #2-Bobby Orr (F-G), Sanderson, Esposito and Hull, are warped by rubber bands, while rookie cards of Parent and Redmond are creased and low grade. Numerous VG and VG+ cards however are then present, with a nicely centered 200-Orr All-Star making it to VG-EX and joined by a G+ 214-Orr Norris Trophy card. Two checklists are present but rough and marked, the same as the two from ‘69-70. Condition of the latter issue is markedly better, with an EX Tony Esposito RC exhibiting just a tad of a diamond cut. Crease-free VG-EX, VG-EX+ and EX cards tend to dominate the’69-70s, with VG and VG+ examples also present. The Orrs include #s 24 (VG+), 209-Norris (VG-EX) and 212-All-Star (VG+), while other notables include 4-Savard RC (VG+ OC), 61-Howe (VG-EX), 70-Hull (VG-EX+) and 193-Howe Mr. Hockey (numbered and EX). The 1968-69 lot is missing 35 cards which are #s 56, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 100, 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 108, 109, 110, 167, 168, 169, 170, 171, 172, 188, 189, 190, 191, 192, 193 and 209, while the 1969-70 group is missing 34 cards; #s 30, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 110, 111, 112, 113, 114, 115, 116, 117, 118, 119, 120, 151, 152, 153, 154, 155, 156, 188, 189, 190, 192 and 217. Finally, it should be noted that the two groups of cards have a crusty/musty smell to them.
