Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Their first Cup win in a decade, the Toronto Maple Leafs managed to defeat the current Cup-holders in the form of the Chicago Black Hawks in the spring of 1962, winning in six games. In this lot we have a stick that has been team-signed by the 1961-62 Stanley Cup champion Toronto Maple Leafs, which includes 9 HOFers. A generic “All Star” model originally sold by MLG supplier Doug Laurie, the full size stick exhibits some light wear, with all of the signatures scripted in ballpoint. 17 have put pen to wood, including deceased HOFers Tim Horton, Allan Stanley and Al Arbour, along with additional Hall members Mahovlich, Keon, Armstrong, Kelly, Pulford and netminder Johnny Bower.
About half of the signatures present exhibit varying degrees of fading, with the other half remaining fairly bright and vibrant. The Horton, Stanley and Bower examples are especially pleasing.
