Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Featuring Canada’s boys in blue, we have a nice little grouping of 5 documents pertaining to the beloved Toronto Maple Leafs, with signatures from Hall of Fame members Conn Smythe, Hap Day and Punch Imlach. We have a pair of option agreements, with one for Ronald Rowe from 1942 signed by Day, the other for Bob Stephenson from 1979, signed by Punch Imlach. Next, we have an assignment agreement for Guy Rousseau from 1960 that has been signed by both Punch Imlach and Kenny Reardon, followed by a second assignment agreement for Winnipegger Church Russell that has been signed by Day. Lastly, we have what appears to be the first NHL contract for Leafs’ standout Wally Stanowski (misspelled Stanowsky) from 1938, with a beautiful fountain pen signature from Conn Smythe.
Each Hall of Fame signature in this collection displays extremely well, with no issues. The documents themselves also remain in pleasing condition, with just expected wear resulting from their former use, which includes toning along with the odd staple hole or corner bend. The Wally Stanowski contract from 1938 exhibits wear with a few small tears, along with some paper loss on the right hand side.
