This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Three big reasons for the Habs noteworthy defensive prowess throughout the 1970s and early-1980s, Serge Savard, Guy Lapointe and Larry Robinson were instrumental in Montreal acquiring their Stanley Cup dynasty, as well as establishing the Canadiens legendary reputation of being rock solid along the blue line. We have game-used sticks from the three HOFers in this lot, with the Savard and Lapointe examples both signed and originating from the incomparable collection of Rick “The Stick” Elaschuk. The Robinson stick is identified from affixed masking tape as originating from the 1986-87 season.
The breakdown for each of the Montreal Canadiens game-used sticks in this lot are as follows. 1) Larry Robinson game-used stick. A KOHO model, “Robinson” appears stamped-on, with “19” handwritten directly above in black marker. The stick retains its original tape on the blade and shaft, with a few loose strands along the blade. Great use is exhibited, with wear to the underside of the blade along with additional wear to the shaft. Previously mentioned, there is a piece of masking tape that’s been affixed to the upper shaft with a handwritten notation that states in full, “Larry Robinson – Mtl. Cnds. 1986-87 season”. 2) Serge Savard game-used stick. A Sher-Wood PMP 5030 model, “Savard” appears stamped-on along with number “18”, with the stick retaining its original tape on the blade, and ribbed-style on the upper shaft. Light but definite use is shown on the stick, with some random marks on the upper and lower sections of the shaft. Savard has signed midway down in ballpoint, with a personalization that’s possibly in another hand that states “To Rick Best Wishes”. 3) Guy Lapointe game-used stick. A Sher-Wood SOP Glasfibre model, “Lapointe” appears on the upper shaft along with handwritten “4”, with the stick retaining its tape just on the knob, with the blade never taped. A 1983 date stamp is visible on the underside, with light use that includes some wear to the blade along with a few marks to the shaft. Lapointe has signed on the upper shaft in fibre-tip pen adding “To Rick Best Wishes”, with some fading taking place.
