Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Crucial to the important early expansion of hockey along with his brother Frank, Lester Patrick was instrumental in bringing the world’s fastest game to the West Coast. Patrick was also the main driving force behind the early New York Rangers, spending a quarter century with the Blueshirts. We have a pair of Official Rule Books for the NHL from 1941-42 and 1942-43, with both signed on the inside cover by the HOF legend. Both personalized to an “Edna Oldrin”, the 1941-42 example states in full, “Looking forward to seeing you soon. Sincerely Lester” along with a date of “Nov 6/41”, while the other example proclaims “Compliments of Lester Patrick Nov. 2/42”. The full signature along with just “Lester” in the 1941-42 rule book are both flawless, with absolutely no fading.
At roughly 3 ¾” x 6 ¾”, each rule book exhibits just regular handling wear, with some expected light creasing and spine wear.
