Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
With the Canadian public’s insatiable desire to ponder all things hockey, the Hot Stove League was launched in 1939 as intermission fodder on Hockey Night in Canada broadcasts. An instant hit, the show featured well-known hockey writers gathered in a small studio to discuss the game and hockey issues. This cool lot from the Hot Stove Lounge at Maple Leaf Gardens features the microphone that was used to broadcast the puck pundits’ views to the nation, along with a newly purchased mic stand. The collection also includes a variety of pots and pans that served as props for the show, which eventually moved over to the television broadcasts. Historic items from MLG don’t make themselves available every day, especially unique mementos pertaining to the famous Hot Stove League. An LOA will be included.
