Offered here is the Toronto Maple Leafs' inaugural Molson Cup award presented to Borje Salming in 1973-74, and it’s been signed. Borje was the first Maple Leafs player to claim this award, presented annually by Canadian NHL teams to the player who accumulates the most points from the Molson "Three Stars" selection. The Swedish defenceman recorded 39 points in his rookie season and went on to pave the way for Europeans to play in North America, winning three more Molson Cups along the way. Impressive silver plate bowl with cleanable tarnish stands just over 9” high atop an impressive wood base. "Borje Salming, 1973-74" is engraved on a plaque attached to the front of the base, which has individual metal stars attached to each of its three sloping sides. Borje Salming's signed LOA accompanies this historic award
Salming has signed the underside of the trophy in blue sharpie, adding his number and HOF induction year. There is some wear to the rim along the inside, along with a few blemishes and chips to the wooden base. Two scratches are also present on the name plaque. Also included is an 8” x 10” print that shows Salming receiving this award in 1974.
