Fresh off a gold medal win with Canada at the Olympics as a backup in Feb of 2002, Ed Belfour would begin his 14th NHL season and first of three in Ontario with the Maple Leafs that fall. From the twilight of Ed Belfour’s marvelous Hall of Fame career, we have a pair of photo-matched goals pads worn by Ed in 2003-04, along with a blocker and glove from the same season, plus game-worn skate boots (the same type used while with the Leafs) and neck guard. There is also a small glove that was worn inside the trapper, and it has been signed by Ed. Matching ensembles worn in the same season from goaltenders are scarce, especially from individuals with the stature of Hall of Famer Ed Belfour. An LOA from Mr. Belfour will accompany.
The breakdown for each of the Ed Belfour game-worn items offered is as follows. 1) Photo-matched goal pads. CCM Heaton examples in Leafs blue and white, each pad has “Belfour” embroidered onto added leather along the outside top section, along with both screened-on and embroidered identifiers. Heavy use is exhibited, with an absolute ton of puck marks present along with rubbing to the leather. Repairs are also present, with each having a piece of leather added across the top section, blue on the right pad, white on the left. Regarding the previously mentioned photo-match, Getty image #52402254 from the 2004 season has been matched to many marks especially along the top section of the left pad, and to a few marks along the top section and outside edge of the right pad. Getty image #3124599 from March 23rd 2004 has also been matched to many marks on both pads. 2) Game-worn blocker. A CCM Heaton model, “Belfour” is embroidered along an outside edge. In Leafs blue and white, identifiers have been screened-on and embroidered, with great use exhibited including a number of puck marks to the surface. 3) Game-worn trapper. A CCM Heaton model, “Belfour” is embroidered along the backside of the wrist guard. In Leafs blue and white, identifiers have been screened-on and embroidered, with thorough use exhibited to the pocket. There is also red and blue paint transfer along the back of the pocket section. 4) Game-worn skate boots. Graff Goaler Pro models, each boot is in solid black and currently void of lacing. With each showing use, the left skate has heavy salting to the metal eyelets. 5) Game-worn neck guard. In solid blue, the guard with Velcro attachment remains in excellent condition. 6) Game-worn inner glove. Worn inside his trapper, the solid blue glove has been signed by Ed across the palm in marker, and he's added his number.
