Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
From his last season in Toronto and second last in the NHL, where he was still putting up impressive numbers including a save percentage of .892 over 49 games played, we have a pair of game-worn photo-matched pads from Ed Belfour’s time in Ontario, 2005-06. Also included are a blocker from the same season, a neck protector most likely used while with the Leafs, a pair of skates used during his career (did use this type with Toronto) and a signed small glove that was worn within his trapper. Photo-matched items from prominent Hall of Famers are always highly sought after, and it’s no different with this great lot. An LOA from Mr. Belfour will accompany.
The breakdown for each of the Ed Belfour game-worn items offered is as follows. 1) Photo-matched goal pads. CCM Gatekeeper models in Leafs blue and white, each pad has “Belfour” embroidered onto added leather along the outside top section, along with fully embroidered identifiers. Heavy use is exhibited, with a number of puck marks present along with rubbing to the leather. There is also paint transfer along the inside edge of each. Repairs are also present, with each having a piece of blue leather added across the top section. The strapping for the lower section of each pad is also no longer present. Regarding the previously mentioned photo-match, Getty image #56687871 from Jan 17th 2006 has been matched to a number of black marks on the top areas of both pads. 2) Game-worn blocker. A CCM Gatekeeper model, “Belfour” is embroidered along an outside edge. In Leafs blue and white, identifiers have been screened-on and embroidered, with heavy use exhibited including a ton of puck marks to the surface. There is also some wear to the palm. 3) Game-worn skates. Graff Goaler Pro models currently void of their blades, each outer guard has embossed images of Eddie’s trademark eagle motif. Great use is shown, with wear to the boots and blade holders including puck marks along with considerable amounts of red goal-post paint transfer. 4) Game-worn neck guard. In solid blue, the guard with Velcro attachment remains in excellent condition. 6) Game-worn inner glove. Worn inside his trapper, the solid blue glove has been signed by Ed across the palm in marker, and he's added his number.
