Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016

Coming off a Stanley Cup victory in 2001, Colorado Avalanche captain Joe Sakic would play in his seventh season with the club, finishing with an impressive 79 points in the 82 games played. This Air-Knit Avalanche captain's jersey was worn by the HOFer in 2001-02, and it’s been photo-matched. A size 54 fly tag adhered to a label is affixed to the collar, with embroidered NHL and KOHO crests on the bottom hem and back necklines respectively. Featuring the attractive Avs team crest in use since inception, the burgundy v-neck has been styled with textured triple-twill numbers, along with matching Bigfoot alternate crests over each shoulder. The team patch resides on the inside hem, and it denotes this garment as being a “Set 1” example. An LOA from the Colorado Avalanche organization will accompany.
Game-wear on the jersey is nice, with marks on the lower front and over each sleeve along with a pair of stick marks on the team crest. A number of board burns are also present over each sleeve. Regarding the previously mentioned photo-match, Getty Images #550571, #550573 and #550577 from Nov 3rd 2001 has been matched to the stick marks to the left and right of the “A” on the team crest, to the loose blue threading visible beneath the right side of the “A” of the team crest, and to the loose white thread visible along the bottom border of the team crest.
